This will be one of the shortest cookie policies you've ever read. That's because we barely use them.
The short version
We use a tiny handful of cookies — one to keep you logged in, one to quietly test if a button label is better than another, and that's honestly about it. Our analytics don't use cookies at all. Zero advertising, zero tracking. The orangutan is watching, but the cookies aren't.
Our cookies
bv_session
Keeps you logged in to your account. Expires when you log out or after 7 days of inactivity. Essential— without this, you'd have to sign in on every page.
bv_ab_group
Assigns you to a random group (A or B) so we can test small improvements to the site — like whether one button label works better than another. No personal data is stored, just a single letter. Expires after 90 days. Functional — helps us make the site better for everyone.
bv_cookie_consent
Remembers that you've acknowledged this cookie notice so we don't pester you again. Stored in localStorage (technically not even a cookie).
vine_preview
Only set if you access the site during maintenance with a preview link. Lets you bypass the maintenance page for 24 hours. Most users will never see this cookie. Functional.
That's the complete list. No marketing cookies, no analytics cookies, no social media cookies.
Our analytics — cookie-free
We use self-hosted analytics (Umami) that work without cookies entirely. They tell us aggregate information like "500 people visited today" without tracking or identifying anyone. No consent needed because there's nothing to consent to.
Third-party cookies
If you use our Pro features, our payment partner Paddle(our Merchant of Record) may set cookies during the checkout process for fraud detection and session management. These are Paddle's cookies, not ours. See Paddle's privacy policy for details.
Managing cookies
You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. If you block our session cookie, you'll still be able to view landing pages — you just won't be able to stay logged in to your account.
