Right-click any song
Beyond the slash commands, BeatsVine adds a right-click action. On any message that names a track, including the now-playing message your music bot posts, open Apps and choose Get BeatsVine links. You get the same cross-platform card, shown only to you.
It pairs with whatever music bot your server already runs. That bot plays the song in voice; BeatsVine turns it into links on every platform. It reads only the one message you pick, and only when you pick it.
Permissions
The commands need no special permissions. When you add the bot, Discord asks for two scopes:
- Use Slash Commands (
applications.commands) — so the commands work. - Bot — so BeatsVine appears in your member list. It joins with no permissions.
It does not read your messages in the background. The one exception is the right-click lookup: when you choose Get BeatsVine links on a message, the bot sees just that one message, just then, to find the song. Nothing is read passively, and it only posts when someone runs a command.
To improve coverage, BeatsVine keeps anonymous, aggregate stats of what gets searched (the song or genre, never who asked). No Discord user details are stored.
Coming soon
Opt-in scheduled feeds: a Monday chart drop and a daily "on this day" throwback, each a discussion starter with every track a cross-platform link. Those will ask for the Manage Webhooks permission when you turn them on, so the bot can post to a channel you choose. Not yet.
